The purpose of Great Start is to ensure a coordinated system of community resources and support to help all Sanilac County families provide a great start for their children from ages zero through third grade.

What is the Great Start Collaborative?
The Great Start Collaborative ensures Sanilac County families have access to coordinated resources and support for children from birth through third grade. As part of Michigan’s statewide initiative, it works to help every child grow up safe, healthy, and ready to succeed in school and life.
Great Start has 4 goals:
Children are born healthy.
Children are healthy, thriving and developmentally on track from birth to 3rd grade.
Children are developmentally ready to succeed in school at the time of school entry.
Children are prepared to succeed in 4th grade by reading proficiently by the end of 3rd grade.
